Kobe Bryant Apologizes to Gay Rights Organization

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant has apologized to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) President, Joe Solmonese, over this homophobic slur on the sideline of a Laker's game on April 12.

Kobe said "F**king fa**ot" after being technically fouled during the game.

The NBA has slapped a $100,000 fine on the Kobe, terming his comment "offensive and inexcusable."

NBA Commissioner David Stern said, "While I am fully aware that basketball is an emotional game, such a distasteful term should never be tolerated.."

Kobe, who made $48 million last year, says he plans to appeal the fine. Speaking on ESPN radio, he said the appeal is "standard protocol.

"The concern that I have is for those that follow what I say ... look to me as a role model .. for them not to take what was said as a message of hate or a license to degrade ... or to embarrass or tease ... because that's something I don't wanna see have happen," he said.
