Mariska Hargitay attends the Museum of the Moving Image Salute to Alec Baldwin in New York City in a Carolina Herrera dress and we are once again amazed at the endless ways celebrities are constantly paying tribute to one another.
We tend to think this dress looks better in person than it does in pictures. Under the glare of a dozen flashes going off, the graphic elements here overwhelm both the look and the natural shape of her body. It's distracting. We like the shape and the fit on her, but the length is awful. She's not a tiny gal, but she's clearly not as tall as a model. Hair and makeup look good, but they always tend to with her. She's a little shiny but we're not such bitches as to make an issue of it. She's always seemed to know how best to work her face, or at least she pays good people to know it.
We suspect the dress was striking in person, but the overwhelming graphic element and the unwieldy length are just too much for our delicate sensibilities to overcome, so we're going with an OUT on this one.
